Instructions
- In a bowl, mix the softened cream cheese, chopped dill, lemon juice, salt, and pepper until smooth and well combined.
- Lay out the slices of bread on a clean surface. If desired, lightly butter one side of each slice to add extra richness. Spread a generous layer of the cream cheese mixture onto the unbuttered side of each slice.
- Place the thinly sliced cucumbers evenly over the cream cheese on half of the bread slices. For extra flavor, you can lightly salt the cucumber slices before placing them on the bread.
- Top the cucumber-covered slices with the remaining bread slices, cream cheese side down. Press gently to secure the sandwiches.
- Using a sharp knife, carefully trim off the crusts from each sandwich. Cut each sandwich into quarters or smaller rectangles for a dainty presentation. Arrange them on a platter and serve immediately.
Notes
Choose the right bread: Use fresh, soft bread for the best texture. Chill before serving for a firmer texture. Experiment with other fresh herbs like mint or chives for a different flavor profile. To prevent sogginess, assemble the sandwiches just before serving.
