Instructions
- In a bowl, combine the diced tomatoes, chopped basil, minced garlic, extra-virgin olive oil, and balsamic vinegar. Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste. Mix gently and set aside to let the flavors meld.
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Brush both sides of the baguette slices with olive oil. Place them on a baking sheet and toast in the oven for 5-7 minutes, or until golden and crispy. Alternatively, you can toast them in a skillet over medium heat for 2-3 minutes per side.
- Once the bread is toasted, rub one side of each slice with a garlic clove for extra flavor. Spoon the tomato mixture generously onto each slice. Drizzle with a little more olive oil if desired.
- Bruschetta is best served fresh while the bread is still crispy. Arrange the slices on a platter and garnish with additional basil leaves for a beautiful presentation.
Notes
Choose ripe tomatoes for the best flavor. Toast the bread until crispy to prevent sogginess. You can prepare the tomato mixture ahead of time and store it in the refrigerator. Add diced mozzarella or Parmesan cheese for a variation.
